First stop of the tour is Amalfi, townlet that gives the name to the coast. It was the first of the four Maritime Republics, and for a long time held the monopoly of trade with the East. Overlooking the main square, there is the Cathedral of St. Andrew, one of the most beautiful in Italy. It is located on top of an impressive staircase and it’s façade is decorated with mosaics and with the famous bronze doors imported from Costantinopoli and Chapel of Crucified.
After visiting Amalfi your driver will take you to Positano. Nestled in the mountains, overlooking the crystal clear sea, Positano with its fabulous beaches, including those of Marina Grande and Fornillo, it is crowded every year by many tourists who come here to spend a relaxing holiday, immersed in a dream. The Church of Santa Maria Assunta Teresa, with the beautiful tiled dome, the Saracen towers, small fractions of Nocelle and Montepertuso are some of the many things that you can visit.
With our tour you will also have the chance to visit the archaeological site of Paestum.
The old city ruins were discovered in 1750 thanks to the excavations for the construction of a new road. The main attractions of this site are three Doric temples dating from around 500 BC that are considered as the best preserved in all the Magna Graecia:
- The temple of Athena
- The temple of Apollo
- The temple of Hera
You can also visit the archaeological museum which contains all the artifacts found during the excavations of the city, including the famous TOMB OF THE DIVER found in a Necropolis outside the city.
